Lucien Barbarin brought his trombone and a second line to close out the Fall 2014 Jazz at the Sandbar season on Wednesday, November 19. He performed with combos led by Steve Masakowski and Matt Perrine. Lucien Barbarin was cousins with legendary musician and educator Danny Barker, who worked closely with Professor Masakowski and gave him his guitar shortly before he passed away.  The Danny Barker guitar made a rare appearance at the Sandbar, and we were all glad to hear it. Steve's combo included, from left to right, Johnny Meehan, Albert (birthday boy) Allenback, Eric Merchant, Xavier Reed, Thomas Pol and (not shown) Shawn Myers.  Matt Perrine's group included Michael Robbins, EZ Ramak, Chris Preuc, Manuel Perkins, Morris Griffin with a lovely piano solo, Kyle Gancayco, Adam Duhe, and the dulcet tones of Claudia Baumgarten. Kudos to all the stellar student performers, guest artists, and audiences - we will see you for the Spring 2015 season beginning March 4.
